CORN MAZE & PUMPKIN PATCH--Harold Cayce has been making area children smile for the past several years by showing off his pumpkins. As his pumpkin patch has grown, Cayce invited local students from Caldwell County Primary School out for a free tour of the patch. Pretty soon he was getting calls from teachers in surrounding counties asking if they could bring their classes. And with that, he was in business. The corn maze has become just as popular as the pumpkin patch tour, attracting visitors from all over the region. Corn mazes of the past have been designed to mimic the shape of Kentucky and even downtown Princeton. Cayce has even utilized GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) technology to make sure his mazes are accurate. I think a lot of people had fun when we laid out Princeton because everyone thought they knew exactly where they were going, said Cayce. Some visitors returned to the corn maze as many as four and five times in search of the Princeton courthouse. If you visit the corn maze in the evening, you will have to take your own flashlight. Cayce offers a picnic area so families can visit and make a day of it. Group tours have been offered in September and October. Some days, weve averaged 200 people coming through. Cayce offers pumpkin patch tours on Saturday afternoons for families and small groups.
